Lecture: Dance in the Museum?!

The art historian, curator and production manager for the independent dance and art scene Katharina de Andrade Ruiz gives a lecture on the connection between dance and the visual arts: The dance avant-garde of the 1920s, from Isadora Duncan to Mata Hari and Waslaw Nijinsky, already cultivated a close connection to the visual arts and chose the galleries and exhibition spaces of museums as a dance stage for their new forms of movement. But what is different and new about 'dance in the museum' today? Do the performance-based arts call classical exhibition concepts into question?
